QUIET DENIM™ CASE STUDIES

Quiet Luxury: Charleston Renovation

In a 1940 home tucked into downtown Charleston, Danny & Christina Gilpin from D Gilpin Properties pursued a specific luxury you can’t put on a mood board but feel instantly: quiet.

“In a higher-end market, once you meet all the initial criteria, what you can really then look for (to elevate the property) is sound,” Danny says. And he’s right. Historic homes have plenty of charm, but they also offer many easy pathways for noise. And when interior walls aren’t insulated, you hear more of the house than you want to.

For this renovation, Danny and Christina went beyond the building code requirements by insulating interior walls to improve acoustic comfort. They chose Quiet Denim™, because it delivers premium sound performance while supporting the kind of indoor environment today’s homeowners want: quiet, comfortable, clean, sustainable, and safe.

Quiet where it counts

They started where sound tends to show up first in a high-end home: bathrooms.

In the guest suite bathroom, their team focused on an interior wall that didn’t need insulation for code, but mattered for the experience. With a plumbing stack running down from the second floor, another bathroom on the other side, and a soaking tub nearby, it was exactly the kind of spot where small noise becomes a daily distraction.

They installed Quiet Denim in exterior walls, interior walls, and the ceiling, taking care to fill gaps and fit snugly around outlets, wiring, and pipes. That attention to detail is what makes acoustic insulation really work.

A difference you notice immediately

The team was surprised by how quickly the house changed. “Renovating vacant houses, you get that vacant house echo, and it feels empty,” Danny says. “And just having this done already with no furniture, no flooring or anything, it sounds like you’re in a completely finished house.”

That’s the payoff of acoustic insulation. Bedrooms feel more restful. Bathrooms stay private. Living spaces feel calmer. It’s a difference you can feel and hear.

Premium performance, with a cleaner install

Quiet Denim also offered contractors comfort on install day. Made from 85% recycled denim, it’s fiberglass-free and easier on installers. No hazmat suit, no itchiness, and less of the discomfort crews expect.

Why acoustic comfort matters

You might not be able to name what’s different in a home that feels calm and comfortable…but acoustic control is often the difference. In high-end residential builds and renovations, homeowners are now more than ever seeking peaceful, private, and cozy spaces. Using interior wall insulation is a fantastic way to boost acoustic comfort and make a home feel even more premium.
